It’s The Way You Shower

Hey Everyone,

Quick question: Are you showering the right way? Warm water or cold water? Hair or body first? Which one is which??

Below are the answers and reasons why you should be showering this way:

1. Brush Your Hair First

This is to detangle your hair and prevent split ends from happening. Because when your hair is wet, the hair will stick to each other and using your fingers to comb them is a no-no! Besides that, you will find it easier to lather your hair if you brush your hair first.

2. Start With Warm Shower

Warm water helps to open up your pores and cuticles to remove the excessive oil and dirt from your hair and your face, as well as your body.

3. Shampoo Your Hair And Conditioner After

I always mix my shampoo with water every time when I buy a new one (3/4 shampoo, 1/4 water) because the liquid is very thick and its enough to cover for my hair. (And its cost savings too!) Apply too much of shampoo may also leads to dandruff if you did not rinse your hair thoroughly. Start lathering from the top, and only concentrate massaging the roots because your roots collect most oil. Avoid shampooing at your ends because it tends to dry up and will lead to split ends. The shampoo will lather through your ends upon rinsing with water. When you apply conditioner you can concentrate at your ends, not the top because we do not want your roots to become more oily and loose its strength which will lead to hair loss.

4. Cleanse Your Body After You’re Done With Your Hair

If you ever wonder why you have breakouts at your back, the conditioner is to be blamed. Dry skin? Shampoo’s fault. That is why after washing our hair, we will then cleanse our body to wash away the leftover shampoo and conditioner off our body.

5. The Last Step: Cleanse Your Face

This should be your last step of your shower routine, after cleansing your hair and your body. And before leaving the shower, make sure you rinse with cold water first to close off the pores and cuticles, leaving you feeling fresh and squeaky clean!

**Note: If you wore make up, you need to remove it first before hitting the shower!

6. Save The Shave For Last

After showering, wait at least 20 – 30 minutes before you shave so that it would be easier for you to shave when your skin and unwanted hair is completely dry. Use a shaving cream to avoid rashes and dry skin after-shave. Ensure that your razor is dry and clean. I would always use disposable razors and I would dispose them after I used 3 times.

So, are you a shower pro or did you just learn something new? Feel free to share what you think in the comments below.

3 Handy Home Remedy Tips To Get Rid of Eye Bags

Eye Bags be gone!

Eye bags happen for 2 reasons:
1. Not getting enough sleep
2. Aging

Fortunately we can reduce the appearance of eye bags and here I’m going to share with you the 3 handy home remedies which I find it effective:

1. Cucumbers

Slice the chilled cucumbers  and place it on your eyes for half an hour. Cucumbers are one of the most natural remedies to reduce puffiness of your eyes. Tip: You can just leave it on while taking a nap!

2.  Green Tea bags

Green tea are well known as an anti oxidant and the natural properties of these green teas will help to bring puffy eyes back to their original size. First you have to pour warm water and let it settle down for 10 mins. After that, place the chilled green tea bag over your eyes and relax.

3. Ice

Ice, ice baby! One of the most easy, fast and simple trick. Another trick is you can also leave the metal spoon in the fridge! Same method, you can place the spoon over your eyes for 2 mins. As for the ice, you can place it on your eye bags and roll it in circular motion. Or if you don’t want it to drip all over the place, simply place it in a small towel and rest them over your eyes.

The 3 methods above helps to reduce your eye bags, but it does not stop you from aging. We still have to rely on a good eye product, that can help us to reduce the fine lines around our eyes. For this, I use eye serum and eye gel. You can see from my previous post on what I bought on BodyShop online here.

BodyShop ElderFlower Eye Gel – Cooling and soothes your eye bags area. I would normally apply this before I apply my concealer. This is my all time favourite eye gel.

BodyShop Moisture White Shiso Eye Serum – An anti oxidant moisturising serum that helps to brighten up your eye bags area. In other words, it helps to reduce the dark spots that appears under your eyes. And after using this product for 2 weeks, I noticed my eye bags are getting brighter.

Last but not least, make sure you get an adequate amount of sleep and drink plenty of water to keep yourself hydrate all the time.

Is there other home remedies out there that helps to get rid of eye bags? Feel free to share below!

Do You Facial?

Hey Everyone,

Last week I finally had my facial treatment. And my last facial was in February after Chinese New Year (3 months ago, eek!!) I wasn’t being lazy, I was busy working and I’ve got no time to make appointment. Every time when I want to make appointment, they are always full and I would always be placed in their waiting list. So now, every after facial I would immediately book my appointment for next month, together with my hubby!

How often do you facial?

It is strongly advisable to go for facial at least once a month. I have been doing that every year since I sign up the facial package. For me, it is part of my beauty routine to include facial as facial is consider a “full facial treatment” because it helps to:

1. Deep cleanse your pores to remove all the bacteria that clogs up your pores which leads to whiteheads, blackheads, and pimples. How it causes the clog is because of your face oil and also because of your make up. That’s why getting the right product to remove your make up is also important, but sometimes this product does not remove 100% entirely. Professional facial centres has the proper tools (not to worry, no needles involve here) and products that can help not only to clean your pores, but also the restore them the way it should be.

2. Boost your skin hydration. Everyday we are exposed to air conditioning be it at workplace, shopping malls or home. But most of the time is at workplace. Air conditioning tends to dry up your skin and can lead to clogged pores too because of the facial oil. These facial oil here means the oil is produced from your face, which leads to oily skin. How it leads to oily skin is because of clogged pores. And when the pores are clogged, thats when all the blackheads and pimples pops out. Most facial has a hydration treatment that feeds your skin with water! Plus with their professionally trained beauticians they know how to massage your face correctly and the products that they use helps to hydrate your skin and repair all the dead cells.

3. Relaxation is the key. While facials may take up to 2 hours, it is a great time to relax and enjoy the facial massages. With all the massages in placed, these beauticians already know the methods on how each facial massages can help to make your face slimmer, tighter, and radiant all over again. They would also play soft relaxing music and apply lavender essence oil for the massage, how not to relax and fall asleep?

The package that I would always take is the hydration package and stem cell package.

Hydration package includes moisturising your face with extra boost of water which will leave your skin dewy, soft, supple and radiant.

Stem Cell package is an anti ageing treatment which reduces fine lines and wrinkles, improves collagen and hydrates skin intensely. I love love love this Stem Cell package because it helps me to shape my face by making it look slimmer and sharper too. It has given me a proven result the first time I did this Stem Cell treatment, and till now, it never fails me. I have just sign up another package for this again. Though its on the high price side, but it was worth it for me and it has proven me results.

My husband did facial with me too, but of course in a separate room. They have dedicated space for females and males. My husband also love their facial treatment. The package that I got for him is a Cleansing package. He has a very nice smooth skin, but the problem is the blackheads around his nose. This package is suitable for him because it helps to clear up the clogged pores and blackheads, and eliminates dead skin cells. At the same time, it will help to tighten up the pores and maintain the moisture which will result in healthy and revitalized skin.

Before you make any decision, there are few tips that I would like to share with you before signing up for facial package:

1. Google up that professional beauty centres near you and read what other customers’ view of them

2. Before signing up a package, the beautician will have to check and analyse what type of skin you have first: normal, dry, oily, sensitive or combination and will then recommend you which package is suitable for you. Share with them your concern and ask for their advice on how to go about it. For example I have combination skin (oily and sensitive). So first they would recommend me to fix up my skin, so they recommended me hydration package. After few sessions with this package, they would then check the condition of my skin. My skin gradually improves so thats when then they allowed me to take Stem Cell package because that was what I wanted: an anti ageing treatment. If the beautician was being too pushy and simply sell you the package, they are not doing the right thing because you would never know whether the product that they using are suitable for your skin, right?

3. Buy that facial package in small quantity. Or if they are having “ala carte” promo, just take it. Like I mentioned above, you don’t know whether their product is suitable for your skin. At the same time, whether you like the way they do the facial massages and the method that they use. But of course you can always request for another beautician on your next facial appointment if you are not pleased with the previous one.

4. Consider facial as your lifetime investment. At least once a month will do. If you don’t do it often, you will not see the result. Plus, this is a natural beauty regime compared to having botox and injections to your face. One of my beauty motto is to age gracefully. Confidence is the key! Look at other celebrities who aged gracefully, like Michelle Pheiffer, Tina Fey, Sandra Bullock to name a few.

I hope that this posts about facial helps you in a way. All this are based on my thoughts and opinions only. If you have any advices or questions, kindly feel free to comment below!

Just For Laughs: Makeup Fail

Hey Everyone,

I was having dinner at my in-laws place yesterday and my sis-in-law shared with me a makeup (fail) tutorial that her friends shared on Facebook. I find it hilarious and I want to share with you guys too!

And within 7 days, the youtuber already have 3,700++ views. She has become famous in a hilarious way.

Everything in the video the youtuber mentioned is all about not being stingy with make up and you must put put put to show people that you are not lazy and that you are beautiful. In a way she is right about putting make up on will make you look beautiful, but not being stingy with make up? It’s so funny! This helps other cosmetic companies to boost their sales if we keep on using lots of make up and replenish them once its finishes. And I will go broke if I do that!

Anyway, besides that what I want to say is that being beautiful is not about just putting on make up and stuffs but being beautiful inside out. Putting make up on gives you extra confidence as a woman, like the youtuber said, people on the street might think that she is Mariah and Beyonce. Honestly, I admire her confidence. But in actual fact, I think her youtube is just for laugh. So please do not take this seriously.

I hope you enjoyed watching this video and laugh out loud!

Have a great day ahead

My Review: Online Shopping with The Body Shop

Hey Everyone,

How did you guys celebrate Mother’s Day? And what gifts you got for your mom on the special day? Well, this year I celebrate with 2 mothers: my mother and mother-in-law together with my husband at Genting Highlands!

We had dinner at Gohtong Jaya and later we went up to Coffee Bean for cup of hot coffee while chilling and enjoying the cool breeze. I had hot chocolate instead because if I take coffee, I won’t be able to sleep at night.

This year, I got my 2 mothers a gift from The Body Shop Malaysia. Few weeks ago, the e-mailer came from Body Shop promoting their mother’s day promotion with 50% off and free delivery. I thought it was a good deal, so I tried them out. I bought not only presents for them, but I bought some for myself too:

1. Moisture White Shiso Eye Serum @ RM 57.75
2. Vitamin E Hand & Nail Treatment @ RM 34.30
3. Elderflower Unperfumed Eye Gel @ RM 39 (normal priced item, but I got 16% off thanks to CIMB exclusive offers! Yay)
4. Moringa Treats (Mother’s Day Gift) @ RM 35.40 each + 1 gift wrapping service RM 1

So in total I paid: RM 197.86

What I’m not pleased was the service:

I ordered on 25th of April, Saturday. But I only received the item on Thursday, 30th of April. I have to wait 4 days to receive my items. And they use PosLaju service. Fine.

Upon ordering, they sent me an invoice via email to confirm my order and my payment, but not on the delivery date. Because it was a Saturday (non working day), I was expecting the delivery order on Monday but it never came. And then I phoned in on Tuesday morning at 10.30am. The receptionist picked up the phone and told me that the person in charge (Inn Inn, not sure how to spell her name) was engaged on the other line and she asked me to call back later. So being sarcastic, I asked her back, why don’t she ask that person in charge to call me back? Isn’t that suppose to be the way? So she took down my number and hang up. And..

She never call me back until 4.30pm. I then called again, the same receptionist picked up the phone and told me that she is still engaged and she has already given her my number. So I told the receptionist to let that Inn Inn know that I called again and requested her to call me back before she leaves for work, which is at 5pm. 15 minutes later, I finally received the call from Inn Inn. I just wanted to know whether my invoice order is confirm and when is the delivery date. She told me that she has arranged the “PosLaju man” to picked up the items the next day, which is on Wednesday and she apologises for the late delivery. I told her that I just want to ensure that I receive the items by Thursday because I will not be in town for the whole week after that. Ok, thank you and we hang up.

And finally I received my items on Thursday late afternoon. In good condition.

And here now, another point that I want to share with you my experience online shopping with Body Shop:

Their products are all old stocks.

Maybe some of you won’t mind about the manufactured date but for me, I do. A lot. Their product was from October 2013 and some from April 2014. Till date, it is 1-2 years stocks, okay.

In my opinion, what I learned from this experience is that whenever a beauty shop having an online promotion, they are just getting rid of their 1-2 years ago stocks. I can’t believe it! Even the normal priced product for ElderFlower Eye Gel I got, the product was from April 2014. The Eye Serum was from December 2013 and Hand Cream was from October 2013. Oh my god, 2 years stock! Such big beauty company like Body Shop still want to sell their old stocks to their customers.

I was utterly (damn) disappointed with the (online) Body Shop.

Best part is, they always put their policy on non refundable or exchangeable for promo items.

From now on, I will never buy these items online on Body Shop website. No matter how crazy online promos they giving, I will never buy it. Even for normal priced item. I will go to their outlet myself and self pick the items that I want to buy. I will also check the manufactured date on items that I want to buy and make sure that the stock is brand new.

Although some claims that the product is not expired unless its already opened. The product shelf life and the product expiry date is two different thing. The product shelf life, if unopened, it can lasts up to 2 – 3 years. I will do a separate blog on this some other time.

But the thing with Body Shop products is they don’t have a seal. Once open we can already use the product. There is no freaking seal on their products.

In future, I will not buy any beauty products online because you will never know when is the manufactured date, unless they have the details posted on their website.

Do you have online shopping experience with cosmetics / beauty company like me? Do you take into consideration on the product manufacture / expiry date before purchasing the product? Do share your thoughts below!

My Beauty Tag: Would You Rather

Hey Everyone!

Most of the beauty bloggers site I visited I would come across this beauty tag edition. I find it very interesting and fun to do it, so I would like to do one myself. So here goes:

1. Would you rather lose all of your mascaras, eyeliners, lipsticks, and lipglosses or lose all of your palettes and eyeshadows?
2. Would you rather chop off all your hair or never be able to cut it again?
3. Would you rather have a coral cheek or a pink cheek?
4. If you had $1000 to spend, would you rather buy clothes or makeup?
5. Would you rather apply lipstick as eyeliner, or eyeliner as lipstick?
6. Would you rather only shop at MAC or Sephora?
7. Would you rather only use one eyeshadow color or one lip color for the rest of your life?
8. Would you rather wear winter clothes in summer or summer clothes in winter?
9. Would you rather have dark nails or bright nails all year round?
10. Would you rather give up your favorite lip product or your favorite eye product?
11. Would you rather only be able to wear your hair in a ponytail or a messy bun?
12. Would your rather never be able to paint your nails again or never use lipgloss?
13. Would you rather shave your eyebrows and have none at all or sharpie them in everyday?
14. Would you rather live without makeup or nail polish?

1. Would you rather lose all of your mascaras, eyeliners, lipsticks, and lipglosses or lose all of your palettes and eyeshadows?

Answer: Palettes and eyeshadows. You can read my post on ‘5 Make Up Products I Can’t Live Without‘ here.

2. Would you rather chop off all your hair or never be able to cut it again?

Answer: Never be able to cut it again. I rather have hair than to go bald!

3. Would you rather have a coral cheek or a pink cheek?

Answer: Pink cheek. It is a natural color. You can achieve pink cheeks without a blusher.

4. If you had $1000 to spend, would you rather buy clothes or makeup?

Answer: Oh gosh, this is tough. If only I could choose both. I think I would rather buy clothes because its a necessity. Make up to me is more to an add-on enhancement tool for your face. My make up products usually can lasts up more than 6 months. But you need clothes to dress-to-impress for occasions like for work, job interview, first date, movie date, etc. You can’t be wearing the same clothes all the time, but you can change your make up anytime that suits the occasions. So yeah, my answer is clothes.

5. Would you rather apply lipstick as eyeliner, or eyeliner as lipstick?

Answer: Eyeliner as lipstick. I can’t imagine having sticky-like feeling on my eyes. How can you apply lipstick to your eyes? We can use lip pencil as lipstick so, if I have an eyeliner with pink or red color, its a combo.

6. Would you rather only shop at MAC or Sephora?

Answer: Sephora anytime! I’m currently using MAC’s gel eyeliner and lipstick. The rest of my make up products I can get from Sephora, like Make Up For Ever, Urban Decay, etc. They have many exclusive brands in Sephora to choose from.

7. Would you rather only use one eyeshadow color or one lip color for the rest of your life?

Answer: One eyeshadow color. I can play around on how I want to apply the eyeshadow. I can do a smokey eye-look, or I can just use a liner brush and line my eyes.

8. Would you rather wear winter clothes in summer or summer clothes in winter?

Answer: Summer clothes in winter. I can wear 2 clothes in one, or layering. But sadly, in Malaysia we only have summer all year long.

9. Would you rather have dark nails or bright nails all year round?

Answer: Bright nails. Bright colors are happy colors, like pastel colors.

10. Would you rather give up your favorite lip product or your favorite eye product?

Answer: Favorite lip product. I hardly wear lipstick unless to work or special occasions. Most of the time my lips are bare, or I just apply lip balm on it.

11. Would you rather only be able to wear your hair in a ponytail or a messy bun?

Answer: Ponytail. Looks neat, casual and can be classic at same time.

12. Would your rather never be able to paint your nails again or never use lipgloss?

Answer: Err.. this another tough one. I don’t really paint my nails often nor use lipgloss. Its either I don’t paint my nails at all and I only use lip balm. Hmm, after long consideration, I would rather never be able to paint my nails again.

13. Would you rather shave your eyebrows and have none at all or sharpie them in everyday?

Answer: Sharpie them in everyday. You can read my post on ‘5 Make Up Products I Can’t Live Without‘ here on eyebrows.

14. Would you rather live without makeup or nail polish?

Answer: Nail Polish. I don’t really paint my nails often, because I do house chores sometimes on weekdays (mostly on weekends), and I cook too. So I don’t want to have any bits and pieces of it to get into the food when during preparation. It has chemicals!

Since you come across this post, why don’t you do a beauty tag edition? Tag, and you’re it!

Please tag me too, because I would like to read your post!

Ps: Happy Labour Day Everyone!
